In Their “Wildest Dreams,” the Chiefs Return for Their Fourth Super Bowl in Five Years

Following last night’s 17-10 AFC Conference Championship win against the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five years. The Kansas City franchise will head to Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete against the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium for the prestigious Super Bowl title on February 11.

Drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Travis Kelce has spent his entire NFL career with the Chiefs and has continued to make Kansas City proud as he has been a critical player for the franchise and is currently the No. 1 tight end in the NFL. This will be the 34-year-old’s fourth Super Bowl appearance, and the tight end will have the chance to bring the Super Bowl title to Kansas City for the third time.

After last night’s performance, Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce set an all-time NFL record for postseason receptions. During the second quarter of the AFC Championship Game, the 34-year-old secured his 152nd NFL postseason reception, surpassing legendary wide receiver Jerry Rice’s record for the most catches in NFL postseason history.

The Chiefs’ tight end entered the conference championship game seven catches behind Jerry Rice. Kelce quickly passed Rice’s record and ended the game setting the new NFL record of 156 postseason receptions.

The Kansas City franchise was favored to lose last night’s conference title game, but the team’s good luck charm and Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was in attendance in Baltimore, Maryland, at M&T Bank Stadium. The Ravens were favored to win last night’s game by 4 points, and the Baltimore franchise was favored on the money line at -207 while the Chiefs were +171.

Amidst the Eras Tour singer’s attendance, the Chiefs managed to defy the odds placed against them, as they won the AFC title by 7 points over the Ravens. Kelce impressed his girlfriend last night after having arguably one of his best games of the season as he secured 11 receptions for 116 yards and scored a touchdown against Baltimore.

Leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, American Airlines has hopped on the Kelce-Swift train as they created two new flights following the Chiefs’ AFC Championship title win. As Travis Kelce’s jersey number is 87 and Taylor Swift’s latest album is 1989, American Airlines used those numbers for their flights to and from Las Vegas and Kansas City for Super Bowl weekend.

It has yet to be confirmed if the Chiefs’ good luck charm will attend the Super Bowl title game, as she is scheduled to perform in Tokyo the week leading up to the prestigious game. Swift’s final performance of her Japan leg of the Eras Tour is on February 10, while Super Bowl LVIII is the following day, February 11, at 6:30 pm E.T. The legendary singer will experience a tight turn-around. Still, when factoring in the difference in time zones, it seems to be enough time for the Eras Tour singer to make it to Las Vegas in time for the big game.

To keep their momentum going and have the best chance at winning the Super Bowl title, the reigning Super Bowl champions should have their good luck charm in attendance on the February 11 game. The 49ers are currently opening as favorites for the Super Bowl title, but not by a significant advantage. The San Francisco franchise is favored to win the acclaimed title by 1.5 points, and when looking at the money line, the 49ers are favored at -118 while the Chiefs are +100.

The Chiefs are no strangers to the Super Bowl, as this is the franchise’s fourth time appearing in the competition over the last five years. Last year, NFL fans saw the Kelce brothers compete against each other as the Chiefs faced the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. Kansas City faced similar odds last year as the Eagles entered the games as favorites by 1.5 points. On the money line, the Philadelphia franchise was favored at -125 and the Kansas City franchise at +105. Despite the odds, the Chiefs defeated the Eagles and secured the franchise’s third Super Bowl title.

As the Super Bowl is still some time away, the odds for this year’s game can change; however, the Chiefs should take any luck they can get. The Kansas City franchise defied the odds last year, and they have the chance to do so again. If the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVIII, they will be the first NFL team to win two consecutive Super Bowl titles since the 2004 New England Patriots team. The reigning Super Bowl champions have already won two back-to-back AFC Championship titles, making them one step closer to clinching the most significant NFL title.
