Ultimate Transfer Roundup – Latest Deals and Rumours: Salah, Neymar, Cancelo?

With the 2023/24 football season already in full flow, the summer transfer window is in its closing stages. Exciting transfers are happening all over Europe and there’s lots more to certainly come.

Below, 365Scores discusses all of the latest transfer rumours and reports all of the latest confirmed transfers.

Rumoured:

Mohamed Salah to Saudi Arabia:

Some reports are claiming that Mohamed Salah has agreed a lucrative deal with an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia. Other sources are denying this and whilst it wouldn’t make sense for Liverpool to sell one of their prized assets at this point in time, it will be interesting to watch what happens over the last few days of the window.

Marc Cucurella to Manchester United:

Luke Shaw has suffered an injury, again. The Manchester United left-back is rumoured to be out for three months, having picked up an injury against Tottenham last week. As a result, United have been in talks with Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella who has been benched for all three of The Blues’ opening games and would be open to a move for more regular football.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Manchester United:

Tottenham have offered United the chance to talk to Hojbjerg. The Dane has become surplus to requirements at The Lilywhites and United are looking to bolster their midfield options and provide more suitable back-up options to the dependable, but ageing, Casemiro.

Anthony Martial to Real Madrid:

Martial is entering his ninth season at Manchester United and he hasn’t developed as a player since his first. In fact, he has regressed. United were proactive in the window as they signed young Danish striker Rasmus Højlund and this means that Martial is now surplus to requirements. Real Madrid haven’t managed to replace Karim Benzema and Martial may head to the Spanish capital on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Progressing:

Matheus Nunes to Manchester City:

Manchester City just keep on strengthening. Next up, Wolves’ midfield maestro Matheus Nunes. The Portuguese midfielder has impressed in his short time in the Midlands and City are hunting for his signature.

Joao Cancelo to Barcelona:

After Cancelo fell out of favour at Manchester City last season, he has been moved on and it appears that Barcelona are the team that will snap him up. Barcelona’s gain is the Premier League’s loss. The right-back is exceptionally talented and will thrive in the purple and blue of Barça.

Marco Verratti to Al-Arabi:

Another big name in the Middle East? Marco Verratti is potentially next up. But, interestingly, not to Saudi Arabia. Al-Arabi are a Qatari side with Rafinha, signed from PSG, already in their ranks. Could this be the start of the Qatari transfer revolution?

Confirmed:

Gabri Veiga to Al-Ahli:

It looked like Saudi Arabian teams were exclusively signing players coming towards the latter ends of their careers. Now, that has changed. 21-year-old Gabriel Veiga was linked with a host of top European clubs this summer but has signed for Al-Ahli where he will link up with Riyad Mahrez. Toni Kroos, Real Madrid legend, didn’t mince his words by claiming that the move was ’embarrassing’.

Mohamed Kudus to West Ham:

It looked like Kudus was signing for Brighton earlier this window, but that deal fell through. Now, the Ghanaian winger has pledged allegiance to West Ham. Kudus impressed in the World Cup and has already started the season on the right track, scoring four goals in three games for Ajax.

Jeremy Doku to Manchester City:

The tricky Belgian winger has signed from Rennes for €60m. One of the many things that is so impressive about City is that when one of their top players leaves, they immediately replace him. Riyad Mahrez leaves for Al-Ahli, and Doku is straight in. Amazing.

Moises Caicedo to Chelsea:

Moises Caicedo had only played 45 Premier League games for Brighton before Chelsea acquired his services for a fee that eclipses the British transfer record. €115m! It seems a crazy amount of money for a player that only started his English football career in April of last year but, then again, just the idea of an Enzo Fernandes x Moises Caicedo midfield pivot is enough to send shivers down the spines of opposing midfield partnerships.

Neymar to Al-Hilal:

Neymar has finally left PSG. After rumours circulated for around four years, it was inevitable that the Brazilian would leave Paris at some point. What was not inevitable was him ending up in Saudi Arabia at the age of 31. Regardless, he’ll become a hero in Saudi Arabia and enjoy the treatment of a king, receiving the affection that he sorely missed at PSG. Read our article here discussing Neymar’s time at PSG.

Daniel Peretz to Bayern Munich:

The 23-year-old Israeli goalkeeper has left boyhood team Maccabi Tel-Aviv to sign for Bayern Munich. He will be Manuel Neuer’s understudy. The future of Israeli football is bright!
