Top Transfers of Deadline Day
Tottenham Hotspurs made a double deadline swoop for both Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus. Juventus’ winger joins on a 18-month loan deal which cost Tottenham £8.3m, with £2.5m this season and £5.8 next season. Kulusevski signed a permanent four-and-a-half-year contract that could be worth up to £21.5m.
This might be is the fire that manager Antonio Conte wanted to climb back up the table to the Championship League zone. Kulusevski also has an option to make the move permanent for £30m in the summer.
Another player moving from Juventus is Aaron Ramsey. The Welsh midfielder has moved to Rangers on loan. This move has come at an interesting time as the next Ranger’s game is the infamous Old Firm Derby against Celtic on Wednesday.
Aaron Ramsey told the Ranger’s website, “”I am really pleased to be joining a club like Rangers. I had a number of offers on the table, but none matched the magnitude of this club, with European football and the chance to play in front of 50,000 fans every other week.”
Hello and Goodbye to the Premier League
Christain Eriksen returns to the Premier League after leaving Spurs at the end of the 2020 season. Eriksen has joined Brentford just seven months after his cardiac arrest at the Euro 2020 match against Finland. The Dannish player has joined the PL club on a six-month contract.
He joined as a free agent after leaving Milan as Serie A rules don’t allow players with a defibrillator devices fitted to play in the league. Between Milan and Brentford, he was keeping up his training with his old club Ajax.
Tottenham’s Tangay Ndombele is returning to Lyon on loan after signing a club-record fee in 2019 with Tottenham. Ndombele has had a frustrating spell this season at Spurs and he is set to stay in France until the end of season. Lyon paid a £1.2m loan fee and also have the option to make Ndombele a permament player in the summer for £54m.
Although this next one is not offically confirmed by either clubs Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to move Barcelona. The 32-year-old signed a deal late last evening.
Aubameyang hasn’t played for the Gunners since a disciplinary breach in December, where he was stripped of his captainacy. Arsenal are set to save £25m in wages from him as they no longer committed to the remaining 18 months of his contract.
More Exciting Signings
Brighton & Hove Albion player Dan Burns has been signeed by Eddie Howe to join Newcastle this season. Burns has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed sum.
Burns said, “I’m buzzing to be here. I never thought I’d be in this position so to be a Newcastle player and to be around St. James’ Park, it’s something I’ve dreamt of since I was a kid. “I can’t wait to step out in the shirt and to see what it feels like. From sitting in the East Stand as a kid to now, it’s crazy. I’m excited to get started”.
Burnley have signed Woust Weghorst from Wolfsburg for £12m. The striker has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the PL team. Burnley manager Sean Dyche talked about Weghorst, “Wout is a player that our scouts have been strong on for some time. We feel he can add to all that we do at Burnley. His signing is a continued show of the club and team’s development.”
One of the more exciting transfer for Manchester City is 22-year-old Julian Alvarez for £14m, with the potentially with adds-on from River Plate. He has signed a contract with City until 2027, however he remains on loan to the Argentinian club until at least July.
Alvarez was an extremely sought after player and he even rejected Real Madrid.
Everton’s signings
Frank Lampard made it a priority to sign Spur’s midfielder. Since Conte arrived at Tottenham, Alli has only made six appearances. Everton have signed a two-and-a-half-year deal for a fee that could potentially reach £40m. The first £10m of his transfer will be payable after he plays 20 times.
The 25 year-old has been with Spurs for 7 years, however his and Conte’s relationship remains unclear. Dele Alli spoke about his signing, “I’m delighted to have signed for Everton, a huge club with a great fan base and history.”
To add to Everton, it may not be a conventional transfer however they did get a new Manager appointed on deadline day. Everton have agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2024 with Lampard.
