Super Sunday in Serie A, LaLiga

Sunday evening is bound to deliver enthralling action with three keynote matches coming from southern Europe. With the Premier League yet to return to full force, we preview three high-profile games from two other major leagues in Europe.

  • AS Roma vs Atalanta, 18:00 CET

The Italian top flight is braced for a double bill of big matches. 5th-placed Roma entertain Atalanta and the Bergamo club have conceded the fewest goals in Serie A this term (3) and they are joint-top of the table ahead of this crunch clash in the capital.

Both teams have won four of six league games this campaign and they are separated by just a single point ahead of kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico. José Mourinho’s men beat the opposition home and away last season, albeit the Giallorossi failed to win any of their seven previous encounters with Atalanta.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Stephan El Shaarawy are sidelined for Roma while striker Duván Zapata is unavailable for Atalanta through injury.

Bet365 have Roma at 2.00 to win this evening, Atalanta 3.60 to win, and 3.50 for a draw.

  • AC Milan vs Napoli, 20:45 CET

Next is a fixture of huge significance. Scudetto holders AC Milan take on Napoli with both teams tied 1st on 14 points coming into the weekend. The two sides have identical records (W4 D2) and both are yet to taste defeat this season.

Napoli have scored 13 goals in Serie A, more than any team in the league, while the hosts are still buoyant from their triumph over city rivals Inter last week. Their last six meetings were evenly split with two draws, two wins for Milan and two for Napoli.

The Rossoneri are without several key players as Rafael Leão is suspended while Zlatan Ibrahimović remains out with persistent knee troubles. Divock Origi and Ante Rebic are doubtful but Alessandro Florenzi is not in contention. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is out with a hamstring problem and winger Hirving Lozano is a doubt.

As per Bet365, Milan are 2.10 to claim victory, Napoli 3.50 to leave with all the points, and 3.40 for a draw.

  • Atlético Madrid vs Real Madrid, 21:00 CET

Sunday’s main event sees the LaLiga champions cross the Madrid divide as Atlético and Real go head-to-head for bragging rights of the Spanish capital. Real have maximum points with five wins in LaLiga and Atlético are five points adrift after picking up three victories. In their two meetings last season both clubs won at home but before that Diego Simeone’s army hadn’t beaten their noisy neighbours in the league since 2016.

Los Blancos captain and talisman Karim Benzema is ruled out of the derby with a knee injury. For Atlético the trio of Thomas Lemar, Jan Oblak, and José Gimenez could feature but Stefan Savic and Sergio Reguilon are confirmed to not be involved in the derby.

Bet365 are pricing 2.35 for Real Madrid to win, 3.00 for Atlético Madrid to win, and 3.40 for a draw.
