Premier League Power Rankings
1. Chelsea
Chelsea are on a remarkable run, showcasing a blend of tactical brilliance and individual flair under Enzo Maresca’s guidance. Their recent 2-1 victory over Brentford at Stamford Bridge highlighted their resilience and attacking prowess, with Marc Cucurella delivering a standout performance that epitomized the team’s intensity and belief.
This win has propelled them to second place in the league, just two points behind leaders Liverpool. The Blues have been particularly effective in turning games around, exemplified by their comeback from two goals down to secure a 4-2 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, a failed drug test for Mykhailo Mudryk casts a slight shadow over the club, though his limited involvement this season means the impact may be minimal. With a squad depth that includes world-class talents like Cole Palmer, who has been instrumental with 11 goals and six assists, Chelsea’s momentum shows no signs of slowing.
Best Player: Cole Palmer
Chelsea take down Brentford and close the gap to Liverpool at the top to just 2 points!

2. Liverpool
Liverpool continue to assert their dominance under Arne Slot, leading the Premier League with 36 points from 15 matches. Their recent 2-2 draw against Fulham, achieved despite being reduced to ten men for the majority of the match, was a slight blip, but they have been mostly exceptional.
Mohamed Salah remains a pivotal figure, consistently delivering crucial goals and assists, solidifying his status as one of the league’s top performers. He leads the Premier League pack with 13 goals. The team’s attacking versatility is complemented by a robust defense, making them formidable opponents both at home and away. With a blend of experienced stalwarts and emerging talents, Liverpool are well-positioned to maintain their title challenge as the season progresses.

3. Arsenal
Arsenal have been a model of consistency this season, currently occupying third place with 30 points from 16 matches. Their recent goalless draw against Everton highlighted their defensive solidity, though it also emphasized the need for greater creativity in the final third to convert draws into victories.
Bukayo Saka continues to be a driving force, contributing significantly to their attacking endeavors with his pace and vision. Manager Mikel Arteta’s tactical acumen has fostered a cohesive unit capable of competing against the league’s elite. As the season advances, maintaining this balance between defense and attack will be crucial for the Gunners’ aspirations of securing a top-four finish.
Best Player: Bukayo Saka

4. Manchester United
Even after the Carabao Cup exit, it seems that things are starting to look up under Ruben Amorim. Granted, United lost to Nottingham Forest and Arsenal but they incredibly beat Manchester City at the Etihad with a last-gasp comeback and a real pattern of play is starting to emerge out of United’s football. Amad Diallo has emerged as one of the brightest talents in the league, and Bruno Fernandes is showing the league what he can do.
With a pretty favourable run of games over the festive football season, Amorim’s Manchester United could be breathing down the necks of the Top Four within no time at all.
Best Player: Amad Diallo

5. Bournemouth
Bournemouth have been the surprise package of the season, sitting comfortably in the top half of the table and punching well above their weight. Under the astute management of Andoni Iraola, the Cherries have combined high-intensity pressing with clever attacking play. Evanilson has been central to their success while Ryan Christie’s powerful midfield displays have kept the team ticking.
Their recent 4-2 victory over Wolves showcased their quality. Bournemouth’s defense, marshalled by Illia Zabarnyi, has also shown marked improvement, helping them grind out results in tight games. If they can maintain this level of performance, a top-10 finish—or even a push for Europe—may not be out of reach.
Best Player: Antoine Semenyo
6. Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have been the surprise package of the season, climbing to fourth place with 28 points from 16 matches. Their recent 2-1 comeback victory over Aston Villa showcased their resilience and ability to perform under pressure. They also beat Manchester United at Old Trafford for the first time in 30 years.
Chris Wood has been surprisingly instrumental in their attacking success, consistently contributing goals and assists that have been pivotal in tight contests. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo’s strategic approach has effectively utilized the squad’s depth, turning a team once considered underdogs into genuine contenders for European qualification. Maintaining this momentum will be key as they face tougher fixtures in the latter half of the season.
Best Player: Morgan Gibbs-White
Erling Haaland or Chris Wood have scored the most opening goals in the PL since the start of 23/24.

7. Brentford
Brentford continue to punch above their weight, showcasing a fearless approach against top-tier teams. Brian Mbeumo and Yoanne Wissa have been their main men upfront, dominating opposition centre-backs. Their high-pressing game and quick transitions have unsettled many opponents, making them a formidable side to face. They have the best home record in the whole league, having turned the Brentford Community Stadium into an absolute fortress.
Manager Thomas Frank’s tactical acumen has been pivotal in maximizing the squad’s potential, turning Brentford into a team capable of challenging for European spots. Consistency will be crucial as they aim to maintain their position in the top half of the table.
Best Player: Bryan Mbeumo
8. Fulham
Fulham have carried last season’s momentum into this campaign, continuing to defy expectations with their robust and cohesive style of play under Marco Silva. Their recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield highlighted their ability to go toe-to-toe with the league’s elite. If they can tighten up at the back, a top-half finish is well within their grasp.
Best Player: Antonee Robinson
9. Crystal Palace
After a very rough start to the season, Crystal Palace have finally found their feet. They are unbeaten in five games which includes points against Manchester City and Aston Villa. A comfortable win in the derby against Brighton last weekend has Palace fans feeling alive again. They’re still 16th, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but they could climb up the table real quick.
Best Player: Eberechi Eze
10. Tottenham
The Robin Hood of the Premier League. They take from the rich (e.g. wins against Manchester United, Manchester City, and Aston Villa) and they give to the poor (e.g. losses to Ipswich, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth). They are consistently inconsistent, yet they make for great entertainment. Five goals in the first half at Southampton, a thriller versus Chelsea, and a rampant victory against Manchester City. They are wild. They play great football on their day, you just don’t know when that day is going to come. Ange Postecoglou is doing a good job though and he should be safe in his job. Good things come to those who are patient. Spurs fans are used to being patient.
Best Player: Dejan Kulusevski

11. Newcastle
Newcastle have been entertaining in the Premier League to say the least. A 3-3 draw against Liverpool with a last-gasp equaliser, a 4-2 defeat to Brentford followed by a 4-0 drubbing of Leicester. You never know which Newcastle is going to show up but it is usually an exciting one. They’ve won just six of 16 games so far but sit just five points away from the Top Four. Anything can happen.
Best Player: Anthony Gordon

12. Aston Villa
Aston Villa are sitting pretty in seventh at the moment but European football may be catching up to them as their form has taken a bit of a dip with only two wins in their last eight. It’s nothing too concerning yet. Youri Tielemans will have them out of trouble soon and besides, they have the easiest fixture in English football coming up this weekend – Manchester City at home!
Best Player: Youri Tielemans

13. Brighton
Brighton’s standards are so high now that it’s easy to forget they were a Championship side just a few seasons ago. They’ve not won in four games but they still sit in the top half of the table after an impressive beginning to the season. Carlos Baleba looks to be an exceptional signing. When Brighton lose one player, they immediately replace him with another. That’s what makes them stand out.
Best Player: Joao Pedro
14. West Ham
West Ham can’t decide if they want to be good or not. Usually, it’s the latter. They beat Manchester United before getting smashed by Forest. They beat Newcastle and the next game conceded five at home to Arsenal. A loss to Leicester is immediately followed by a win over Wolves. As long as they continue at their current pace, they won’t set the league alight but they will survive another season of Premier League football.
Best Player: Mohamed Kudus
15. Everton
Everton are in the survival business before they move into their brand-spanking new stadium next season. That’s a Premier League-level stadium and therefore they need to make sure they remain in the Premier League. One win in the last five and being just three points above the relegation zone suggests things aren’t exactly going to plan but they’ll get there.
Best Player: Dwight McNeil

16. Ipswich
Ipswich just aren’t very good, to be frank. Yet they have a well-gelled unit and they have the capability to grind out results. They aren’t afraid of big sides. They got a point against Manchester United and another three against Spurs. They are still in the relegation zone though and will have to fight hard to escape.
Best Player: Liam Delap
17. Leicester
Ruud van Nistelrooy is the new gaffer at Leicester. He got off to a good start, with a win over West Ham but performances have looked shaky in the past couple of games since. They’ve conceded over 70 shots in Ruud’s three games. Whether they have the quality to survive or not is yet to be seen, but their games will certainly be exciting.
Best Player: Mads Hermasen
18. Wolverhampton
If it wasn’t for Matheus Cunha, I think Wolverhampton fans would have given up on the season by now. That lad is exceptional. He’s truly magnificent to watch. As for the rest of the team, well, not so much. Wolves have lost four on the trot and Gary O’Neil lost his job as a result of it. Like Southampton, this could be a chance for a fresh start and a new lease of life in the fight for survival.
Best Player: Matheus Cunha

19. Manchester City
Oh, Manchester City. Where did it all go so wrong?
The Citizens have been truly dreadful in the last two months. They’ve won one from eleven games in all competitions. Erling Haaland has just three goals in his last 11 Premier League games. Pep Guardiola looks on the verge of quitting the sport altogether. A loss to Manchester United in the derby was a sign that something is seriously off. Losing to Liverpool can be excused. Points lost to Crystal Palace, Brighton, Bournemouth and Tottenham can’t be. A trip to Villa Park is up next so it doesn’t seem to be getting any easier for City. To quote Erik ten Hag, ‘all eras come to an end’. It just wasn’t the Dutchman to stop them.
Best Player: Mateo Kovacic

20. Southampton
The 5-0 defeat to Tottenham was the final straw. Russell Martin was sacked. With five points in 16 games, Southampton have been well off the pace and it was seriously time for a change. The good news? It can’t really get any worse…
Best Player: Aaron Ramsdale
