MLB Player Props: 3 Pitcher Strikeout Prop Best Bets for Monday, Sept. 12

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Props #1: Ride with Reid

Reid Detmers (LAA) over 4.5 strikeouts (-103 @ Unibet) vs. CLE

It’s been a tale of two seasons for Detmers. From April 8th to June 8th, Detmers only had 32 strikeouts in 49.1 innings across 10 starts. He went over 4.5 Ks in just one of those 10 starts. Since then, he has 73 strikeouts in 58.2 innings across 11 starts. Detmers had 5+ Ks in 10 of those 11 starts.

Cleveland is one of the better teams in terms of strikeout rate this season, but five strikeouts isn’t a lot to ask for from Detmers. I may look to go up the ladder as well. Detmers has 6+ strikeouts in 9 of his last 11 starts and 7+ in four of those outings.

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Props #2: E-Rod strikes

Eduardo Rodriguez (DET) over 3.5 strikeouts (+108 @ Unibet) vs. HOU

The Astros are one of the best teams in the league, period, and also in terms of strikeouts. However, it seems that Eduardo Rodriguez has their number.

E-Rod struck out the Astros eight times back on May 7th in his only start against them this year. Last year, however, he went over 3.5 strikeouts in all three meetings against Houston.

On the season, Rodriguez has 4+ strikeouts in eight of 12 starts — including the one he got injured in, in which he threw just 23 pitches. Since returning from injury on August 21st, he has 5, 2, 5, and 4 strikeouts in four games.

Four strikeouts isn’t a lot and E-Rod has hit that number in most of his starts this season. Take a gamble at plus odds.

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Props #3: Follow Framber

Framber Valdez (HOU) over 6.5 strikeouts (+100 via FanDuel)

Framber Valdez has been incredibly consistent for the Astros. He has 23 straight quality starts with seven or more strikeouts in 12 of his last 21 outings.

Valdez has seemingly only gotten strong in the second half. He has 8+ strikeouts in three straight (and four of his last five) starts.

The Tigers struck out seven times against Valdez back in May and went down seven times against southpaw Jose Suarez last week. Valdez should go at least six or seven innings and I’ll take even money for him to get to seven strikeouts.
