MLB Best Strikeout Prop Plays for Thursday

By Ryan Gilbert

Check out our best MLB strikeout prop plays for Thursday, September 1 below!

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Prop #1: Bradish and the Birds

Kyle Bradish (BAL) over 4.5 strikeouts (+102 @ FanDuel Sportsbook) vs. CLE

Baltimore Orioles starter Kyle Bradish has been a different pitcher in the second half. Since returning from injury on July 29th, Bradish has 5+ strikeouts in five of his six starts — including three straight He struck out six across eight scoreless innings in Houston last time out.

Overall this season, Bradish has gone over 4.5 strikeouts in 10 of 16 starts. So why the plus odds? Well, Cleveland has one of the lowest strikeout rates in the league.

Still, Bradish is a decent enough pitcher to pick up five strikeouts, especially given his recent performances. He’s been going deeper into games and consistently striking out a handful of batters.

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Prop #2: Kelly racks up the Ks

Merrill Kelly (ARI) over 5.5 strikeouts (-137)

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merrill Kelly is another one that has found consistency recently. He’s struck out six or more batters in five of his last seven starts, including four straight. He picked up eight strikeouts against the Braves, and seven against the Giants (twice) and White Sox, in his last seven tries.

Getting to six strikeouts has been no issue for Kelly recently. I would consider going up the ladder with 7+ strikeouts and 8+ strikeouts as well on FanDuel Sportsbook.

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Prop Parlay: Kuhl-ing off in Atlanta

Chad Kuhl (COL) under 4.5 strikeouts (-156) + Spencer Strider over 5.5 strikeouts (-390) = +106 parlay

We hit on our parlay in our first article so let’s go for another here. This time I’m going for a same-game parlay in Atlanta with an under and an over.

Kuhl has failed to strike out more than four batters in each of his last seven starts. On the season, he’s gone over 4.5 strikeouts in just six of his 21 starts — three coming in his first six outings.

The Braves strike out a bunch but Kuhl is losing steam in another failed Colorado season.

On the flip side, I’m taking Strider to pick up at least six strikeouts. His line is set at 7.5, so we’re playing it extra safe.

The Rockies are also a team that makes a lot of contact. However, Strider is in a groove recently. He’s struck out at least eight batters in five of his last 10 starts.

More importantly, Strider has hit the six-strikeout mark in 11 of his last 16 games. He should do that again tonight at home.
