Last Call For The Cinderellas: This Midweek’s Cups’ Action Reviewed

Copa Del Rey Semi-Final Second Leg:

Barcelona (1) vs Real Madrid (0):

After a stale first leg of El Clasico in the Copa Del Rey semi-final, Barcelona host Real Madrid looking for their third win of the season over Los Blancos, and advancement into the Copa Del Rey final. Just a couple of weeks ago at Camp Nou, the two giants gave us a thriller to remember in their La Liga encounter as Barcelona won 2-1 stunningly with Franck Kessie scoring the winner in the 92nd minute. It’s all to play for in this fixture, and we should expect nothing less than an all-out intense thriller from start to finish as whoever wins this one is a heavy favorite to hoist up the trophy after the final.

Barcelona: 5/4

Draw: 5/2

Real Madrid: 12/5

Athletic Bilbao (0) vs Osasuna (1)

After a tight first leg, Osasuna travel to the Basque Country to face Athletic Bilbao as they look to win their first-ever Copa Del Ray. Bilbao will need to climb back in order to have a shot at their first Copa Del Ray in 29 years. Both teams sit similarly in the La Liga table at 7th and 9th and have proved to be very even matchups on both sides. This should be a firecracker of a game.

Athletic Bilbao: 3/5

Draw: 37/13

Osasuna: 11/2

Coppa Italia Semi-Final First Leg:

Juventus vs Inter Milan

Juventus will host an out-of-form Inter Milan team that has lost 4 out of their last 5 games in Serie A, one of which was against Juventus and has failed to score a goal in their last three games. Juventus however, are in great form and are pushing for a top 4 place in Serie A again after receiving a points deduction earlier in the season. Juventus come in as the favorite for this fixture, and it should be a fantastic watch for anyone that tunes in.

Juventus: 11/8

Draw: 12/5

Inter: 23/10

Cremonese vs Fiorentina:

With only one win in Serie A this season, Cremonese’s journey to the Coppa Italia semi-final is one of the more bizarre, but beautiful cinderella stories in European football this year. Cremonese will face a Fiorentina team that has won 10 of their last 11 fixtures and has shown no sign of slowing down. Can Cremonese keep the dream alive? Only time will tell.

Cremonese: 4/1

Draw: 14/5

Fiorentina: 4/5

Coupe de France Semi-Final:

Nantes vs Lyon:

These two teams who are struggling in Ligue 1 this season have found their way into the semi-final of the Coupe de France and have a shot at glory, especially because of PSG’s early exit from the competition this season. Lyon will enter this fixture as a favorite, but with all things considered it is a pretty even matchup that could go either way.

Nantes: 12/5

Draw: 28/11

Lyon: 15/13

Annecy vs Toulouse:

Annecy have had a historic tournament, beating Marseille at the Stade de Velodrome on penalties in the quarter-finals, they now face Toulouse in the semi-final. Both teams are currently out of form, with Annecy sitting 15th in Ligue 2, and winless in their last 4 games. Toulouse sit 12th in Ligue 1, with only one win in their last 5 league games. This game should be a thriller, and has the potential to play a huge part in the script of Annecy’s magical cinderella story in the Coupe de France.

Annecy: 14/5

Draw: 27/10

Toulouse: 42/41

DFB Pokal Quarter-finals:

Bayern Munich vs SC Freiburg

Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich side will host a gritty SC Freiburg team that currently sits 4th in the Bundesliga. After beating Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker 4-2, Bayern are in flying form and sit top of the Bundesliga again. SC Freiburg have yet to win the DFB Pokal in their history, and it will be a tough task to try and prevent Bayern from earning the win at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich: 2/7

Draw: 5/1

SC Freiburg: 10/1

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Union Berlin:

Two teams that have had great seasons, Eintracht Frankfurt host a Union Berlin team that has had its best season ever. They sit third in the league and made a run to the round of 16 of the Europa League. Frankfurt sit 6th in the Bundesliga, and are looking for what is really their only shot at silverware this season after being knocked out by Napoli in the champions league.

Eintracht Frankfurt: 13/10

Draw: 23/10

Union Berlin: 27/11

RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund :

Two giants of German football, this tie is definitely the most competitive of the 4 quarter-final fixtures. Leipzig look to regain some form after a tough few weeks in the Bundesliga. Dortmund come off their first lost domestically since November 22nd in a loss to Bayern. This should be a very competitive, and tight affair.

RB Leipzig: 11/8

Draw: 11/4

Borussia Dortmund: 15/8

FC Nurnberg vs Stuttgart

In what is definitely the weakest set of teams left in the competition, bottom of the league Stuttgart face off FC Nurnberg, who sit 12th in the second division of Germany. Whichever of these teams gets to the semi-final will still have a slim chance of cup glory.

FC Nurnberg: 17/4

Draw: 11/4

Stuttgart: 7/10
