Can the Detroit Lions Accomplish Eminem’s New Year’s Resolution?
After a 32-year drought, the Detroit Lions finally clinched their first NFL Playoff win in last week’s NFL Wild Card round. The Lions currently hold the top spot in the NFC North as they face off against the NFC South’s number one team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in tonight’s NFL Playoffs Divisional Round.

Detroit clinched their first NFL Playoff win since 1992, sending Lions fans into a frenzy. The Detroit franchise is currently the only team competing in the NFC that has yet to win a Super Bowl title.
The Lions have garnered significant support throughout the playoffs from their biggest fan, the acclaimed rapper Eminem. Time and time again, the distinguished rapper has shown his support for his hometown team as he does not shy away from expressing his support on social media.
One of Eminimen’s recent posts was dedicated to the Los Angeles Rams’ current quarterback Matthew Stafford. After being the No. 1 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Stafford got drafted by the Lions and spent 12 seasons of his career with the Detroit franchise.
Being a die-hard Lions fan, Eminem had cheered on Stafford throughout his lengthy career with the team. The quarterback ended up getting traded to the Rams in 2021 and went on to compete in Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals. Eminem’s support for the former quarterback did not waver as he was there to cheer him on as one of the halftime performers for that Super Bowl. Eminem watched as the former Lions’ quarterback brought the Super Bowl title home to Los Angeles in 2022.
Ahead of the Lions Wild Card game against the Rams, Eminem pleaded to the Rams’ current quarterback, Stafford, to let his hometown team win the game. The acclaimed rapper joked that he was there for Stafford when he won the Super Bowl and that the quarterback owed him the favor of letting the Lions advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Eminem’s dream came true last week when the Lions barely managed to clinch a win against the Rams. For the first time in over 30 years, the Lions hosted a playoff game, and Detroit ended up beating the Los Angeles franchise 24-23, further increasing the team’s chance at the prestigious Super Bowl title.
Last week, Eminem took to his Instagram to further show his support for his hometown team. The distinguished rapper posted that his New Year’s resolution this year was for the Lions to win the Super Bowl. At the moment, the rapper’s resolution is on track, and he continues to show his support for his favorite team.
A few days ago, Eminem took to Instagram again and posted a video for the Lions’ head coach, Dan Campbell, asking Campbell to put him in tonight’s game. The rapper claimed that he was ready to suit up for the team and play any position and that he needed a jersey or helmet.
Tonight, the Lions will go head-to-head against Super Bowl LV champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It looks like Eminem will not need to suit up for tonight’s game, as the Lions are current favorites to win the Divisional Round game. Detroit is currently a 6-point favorite over Tampa Bay. When looking at the money line, Detroit is favored at -273, while Tampa Bay is +222.
If the Lions clinch the win tonight, the team’s biggest fan will be one step closer to his New Year’s resolution as his team will advance to the NFC Conference Championship game. The Lions already impressed their fans when they hosted and won their first NFL Playoff game in over 30 years last week. If the odds keep working in the Detroit franchise’s favor, for the first time in franchise history, the team might finally be able to bring a Super Bowl title home to Detroit.
