With all of the news surrounding legendary singer Taylor Swift and Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, fans were quick to react to the singer’s presence at the Chiefs road game against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium this past Sunday. Following their two-game losing skid, the Kansas City Chiefs managed to find their momentum yet again as they beat the New England, Patriots, 27-17. This win was accomplished amidst the presence of the team’s good luck charm, Taylor Swift.
With three games left in the regular season, the Kansas City franchise is still fighting for the top spot in the AFC playoff seed. If they manage to clinch the No. 1 seed in their respective division, the Chiefs will receive a bye for the wild card round and automatically advance to the divisional round.
Following their two-game losing streak amidst Swift’s presence, did Kelce change his good luck charm’s “Reputation”, or will the team be able to clinch three back-to-back wins to secure the top playoff seed? Following their recent matches, the Chiefs have a record of 5-2 when Swift is in attendance, with Kelce having 49 catches for 624 yards and two touchdowns.
Kelce’s stats amidst Swift’s presence across the seven games she has attended this 2023-24 season are as follows:
- September 24, 2023: Chiefs vs Chicago Bears (41-10)- Kelce had 7 catches for 69 yards and 1 touchdown
- October 1, 2023: Chiefs vs New York Jets (23-20)- Kelce had 6 catches for 60 yards
- October 12, 2023: Chiefs vs Denver Broncos (19-8)- Kelce had 9 catches for 124 yards
- October 22, 2023: Chiefs vs Los Angeles Chargers (31-17)- Kelce had 12 catches for 179 yards and 1 touchdown
- December 3, 2023: Chiefs vs Green Bay Packers (19-27)- Kelce had 4 catches for 81 yards
- December 10, 2023: Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills (17-20)- Kelce had 6 catches for 83 yards
- December 17, 2023: Chiefs vs Patriots (27-17)- Kelce had 5 catches for 28 yards
Before this past Sunday’s game against the Patriots, Kelce tended to have his lowest receiving yard games when the Eras Tour singer was not in attendance. In the Chiefs’ international game against the Miami Dolphins in Frankfurt, Germany, Taylor could not attend, and Kelce only ran 14 yards throughout the entirety of the game. Despite making franchise history for his team, those 14 yards were his lowest running yards statistics this season. This is followed by his 26 yards in the season-opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and his most recent game with 28 yards against the Patriots.

If the Chiefs hope to retain the number one seed in the AFC, they need to ensure a win against the Las Vegas Raiders in their next game on Christmas Day. The Raiders are currently ranked third in the AFC West with a record of 6-8, and the Chiefs are now in the number one spot for the West division. As of today, the Chiefs are favorites to win the Christmas Day game (-500) over the Raiders (+375).
It has yet to be announced if the Eras Tour singer will cheer on her new boyfriend at his home game in Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day. If she is in attendance, it will be interesting to see how the Chiefs compete and Travis’ on-field performance, as he had his third-lowest running yards game this past Sunday.
