Celebrity Ties- What Teams Your Favorite Stars Support

Drake- Toronto Raptors:

The acclaimed rapper and Toronto native is the Raptors’ most devoted fan. Drake can be seen sitting courtside at nearly every home game, cheering on his hometown team.  

Not only does the rapper play a significant role as a fan, but he also is part of the Raptors organization. In 2013, the Raptors announced Drake as their global ambassador to help the team rebrand the franchise and increase attendance at home games. In continuation of this partnership, the Raptors renamed their practice facility after Drake’s brand October’s Very Own (OVO) in May 2019.

Kate Upton- Houston Astros:

American model and actress Kate Upton is known for her love and support of the Houston Astros. The model is married to Astros pitcher Justin Verlander and is known for her one-of-a-kind customized Astros jackets that she wears to games. 

Verlander got traded to the Astros in 2017 and helped the team win their first World Series that same year. He continued to play for the team until he got injured in 2020 and would not return until the 2022 season. The All-Star pitcher was traded to the Mets and has recently returned to the Astors alongside his wife, Kate Upton. Astros fans are excited to once again see the famous model cheering on the baseball team.

Eminem- Detroit Tigers:

Distinguished rapper and Detroit native Eminem has proven time and time again that he is a die-hard Tigers fan. Eminem has been seen supporting both of his home teams, the Detroit Lions and Tigers. The famous rapper even teamed up with the Tigers to release a limited-edition jersey that featured his real last name and the number “8,” referencing his movie 8 Mile.

Matthew McConaughey- University of Texas Football:

Perhaps one of the University of Texas’ biggest fans is the award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey. This former Longhorn graduated in 1993 and, after his extremely successful on-screen career, has returned to the 40 Acres as a professor and avid fan of the Texas Longhorns. The actor has been named the Minister of Culture at the University of Texas at Austin and even took part in designing the new world-renowned Moody Center for Texas Basketball games. 

McConaughey often attends UT Austin home football games and recently traveled to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to cheer on his team as they beat No. 3 University of Alabama. The famous actor can often be spotted representing the Longhorns and cheering for them from the football sidelines.

Justin Timberlake- Memphis Grizzlies:

It might not come as a shock to most that American singer and songwriter Justin Timberlake is a Memphis Grizzlies fan. The singer was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and has been a minority owner of the Grizzlies since 2012. 

When he was accused of being a “bandwagon” fan in 2014, the singer quickly cleared up the rumor and defended himself by stating that he was born in Memphis and is an owner of the team. Despite his busy lifestyle, Timberlake can often be seen sitting courtside or in a luxury box at home games.

Kate Hudson- Denver Broncos:

Actress Kate Hudson makes it known on her Instagram that she is an avid Denver Broncos fan. The actress grew up in Colorado and was extremely excited when Peyton Manning signed with the team in 2012. Not only can Hudson be seen supporting the Broncos on social media, but the actress was seen cheering on the Broncos alongside her mom as the team won Super Bowl 50.

Miles Teller- Philadelphia Phillies:

Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller is a Pennsylvania native who grew up playing baseball and has been a die-hard Phillies fan his entire life. The actor can often be found cheering on the team in Citizens Bank Park alongside his wife, model/actress Keleigh Sperry. Teller was seen celebrating the Phillies’ advancement to the 2022 World Series, and prior to game five of the NLCS, the actor claimed that he was the team’s “good luck charm.” The Top Gun: Maverick actor has even gone as far as to state that he would give up one of his toes to see the Phillies win the World Series.

Paul Rudd- Kansas City Chiefs:

Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd is perhaps one of the greatest die-hard fans of the Kansas City Chiefs. The acclaimed actor moved to Kansas at the age of ten and attended college at the University of Kansas. Rudd has stated in an interview with ESPN that he would prefer to see the Chiefs win the Super Bowl against the Eagles than win an Oscar. The actor shares his love for the Chiefs with his son Jack, as they have been seen ecstatic together in post-game interviews.

Justin Bieber- Toronto Maple Leafs:

Distinguished singer and Canadian native Justin Bieber is a massive Toronto Maple Leafs fan. The singer has been seen at home games behind the player bench with his father or in a suite. Bieber has also befriended some players on the roster including Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews. 

In 2022, the Toronto Maple Leafs revealed their new alternate jersey designed in a partnership with the Canadian singer. If the singer’s love for the team was not evident enough, he released the music video for his song “Hold On” and called it a “Maple Leafs Love Letter” in the video’s title.

Will Ferrell- USC Trojans:

Renowned actor and former Trojan Will Ferrell graduated from USC in 1990 and has been a fan of the school’s football team ever since. He can be spotted wearing USC apparel and cheering on the football team at numerous games. The actor has even made surprise visits during practice to spread words of encouragement to the USC players. In USC’s 2015 game against Stanford, spectators watched as Ferrell ran out of the tunnel alongside the team.
