100 Meter
Men: Jamaican native Usain Bolt holds the record for the 100-meter race, clocking a time of 9.63 seconds at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Women: The 100-meter record holder for women also belongs to Jamaica. Elaine Thompson-Herrah set the world record with 10.61 seconds at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
200 Meter
Men: Usain Bolt continued his dominance, running the 200 meters in 19.30 seconds at the 2008 games in Beijing.
Women: United States native Florence Griffith-Joyner set the record for the women’s 200-meter race, running it in 21.34 seconds at the 1988 games in Seoul.
800 Meter
Men: David Rudisha from Kenya set the record for the men’s 800-meter at the 2012 games in London at 1:40.91.
Women: Nadezhda Olizarenko from the former Soviet Union set the record for the women’s 800 meters at the 1980 games in Moscow, with a time of 1:53.43.
400 Meter Hurdle
Men: Norwegian Karsten Warholm set the record for the men’s 400-meter hurdle, running it in 45.94 seconds at the 2021 games in Tokyo.
Women: Although she beat her record at this year’s Olympic trials, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone holds the record for the women’s 400-meter hurdle, running it in 51.46 seconds at the 2021 games in Tokyo.

Men: Jamaica continued its track dominance, finishing the 4×100 meter relay in 36.84 seconds at the 2012 London Games.
Women: The United States holds the women’s record for the 4×100 meter relay, running it in 40.82 seconds at the 2012 games in London.
